About Us

D & L Liquors was founded in 1933 by Mr. Joseph Dion and Mr. Leahan. The ambitious young men opened the first store located on Main Street in Waltham the day after prohibition. In the mid 1940's the store was passed down to the sons of Mr. Dion, Norman and Dick. The two brothers relocated to Linden Street in Waltham. Norman and Dick operated a good liquor business for over thirty years until they retired in 1977.

The D & L reigns were taken over by the present owner Mr. Peter Dion, third generation. Peter with his charm and wisdom created a three store chain. He opened our River Street Store in 1980 after he built it with his own two hands. In 1994 he moved the original Linden Street store to Lexington Street in the Wal-Lex Plaza, where it still operates today. The youngest of the three stores formerly known as Wells Package was bought and expanded in 1988 in Woburn Center, Main Street, Woburn.

Today, D & L Liquors had the best selection of wines, liquors, and beer in Waltham and Woburn. Our floor to ceiling shelves are filled with over 1,000 wines from around the world. Our liquor and cordial aisles are carefully assembled with rare single malt scotched to hot and trendy vodkas and our frigid beer cooler is known to dispense the coldest and most unique brews in town! Our knowledgeable staff and specialists are eager and willing to assist our customers. So come on in and try something new!
